I'm writing this for everyone who has ever fallen down and wondered how to get back up. In my own life experience, I've fallen and gotten up multiple times. To share a few experiences, I'm thinking 1) getting into the college of my dreams and not being able to go because I didn't get enough financial aid and my parents couldn't afford to send me, 2) failed first marriage and insufficient income to take care of my daughter and myself and 3) waking up one day to discover the world did not revolve around my every whim.
Here's my 3 Steps To Get Back Up!:
#1 - Assess the situation. Identify what has happened. Let go of resentment, bitterness, and self-pity because these things will poison you. Instead, focus on forgiveness (including forgiving yourself if you feel you've let yourself down), faith and courage.
#2 - Develop a Plan. Look for a way up. As they say, success leaves clues so look for a healthy path to stand on. Read books, get advice from mentors, ask for help from someone qualified to help you. Write out your plan.
#3 - Get Up! Be courageous. Implement your plan. Take big steps, take baby steps, just take a step each day. Be faithful and pray daily for strength.
Results: 1) I joined the US Army and put myself through college and law school, 2) I went to law school and developed the skills necessary to provide economically for my daughter and myself, and 3) I accepted reality, grew up, and committed myself to a lifestyle of health, harmony and balance.
